Exploring pre-searing Ascalon
It seems there are several threads relating to making money, find weapons, dyes, etc in the pre-Ascalon world. But what about setting out to explore the world for the sheer sake of exploring it?
For example, I started a new character, W/M Tuesday night. I have spent the past few evenings exploring my surroundings, enjoying the scenery, killing monsters enough to be a few hundreds points shy of level 7. Ironically, I have only done a few of the quests and yet to exlpore two areas of the world. (Wizzard's Folley and the Northlands)
I know I can easily move up to post-searing, but I missed half the pre-searing world when I went through with my ranger. And to be honest, I have enjoyed it more with my warrior than I did with my ranger. Please don't mistake me for some candy-assed n00b that is too much of a pansy to leave the newb area. I am simply saying that the "newbville" has a lot of eye candy to easily occupy some one for several days.
Anyone else feel this way?
Note: Yeah, I know the entire post-searing world is filled with eyecandy, and I look foward to getting there soon.

Meh, I just wanted to check out the scenery before going post. When I do go post, I'll have the added bonus of goodies to try and pawn off on the newly posted n00bs.

Pre-Searing
I have to agree with you about the detail for pre-searing. My first char I went forward into post-searing at level 3 and got stomped. I then read the forums and the site pages and discovered that the general consensus is to wait until level 6 or so before going to post. I started my char over and enjoyed exploring. I was about to go post and a friend started GW so I hung around pre-searing longer than I had planned to help him over a few of the rough spots that had tripped me and found a couple more quests I had missed as well as the Fort Rainik area. Call me a noob for dallying in pre-searing but the developers spent a lot of quality time on pre-searing and I want to say "Well done!"

Well of course they spent alot of time on it, they wanted to make a wonderful impression on new players =D
And yes... I'm guilty of this same thing... I stayed in pre-searing waaay longer than I should have, lol.

A question on pre-searing that I've been wondering about - West of the town exit (Ascalon) there is a lever and gate that opens up, into which you meet your 1st Charr. Is there something in this area worth seeing or exploring as it didn't seem like a very large area and even at level 6/7 I was getting my arse handed to me by the Charr lvl 4-5.

I love pre-searing! My guild member where making fun of me, because of the time I spent in pre-searing. I did every quest that I could, and explored every single corner. Has anyone been to the fairly hidden cave area just behind fort rainik? It's really nice, but there's nothing in it....it looks like the developers just forgot about it when it came time to populate the world. And north of the wall is really nice, even better when you get the charr cleared. Anyways I was level 9 before I left pre-searing, and now have to start a new character so I can do those new missions with todays update
